Small Text Generator: Copy and Paste Tiny Text and Small Fonts

Type your words and get them back as tiny text you can copy and paste anywhere. This free small text generator makes superscript text, subscript text and small caps, so your message looks like ᵗⁱⁿʸ ᵗᵉˣᵗ, ₐₑᵢₒᵤ or ᴛɪɴʏ ᴛᴇxᴛ. It works for bios, captions, usernames, footnotes, chemical formulas and maths, with no sign up and no download. Everything runs in your browser, so your text is never uploaded.

Because the small letters are real Unicode characters and not a font, they stay small when you paste them into Instagram, TikTok, Discord, WhatsApp, X, documents and email.

Key Takeaways

  • Small text is made from Unicode characters, so it pastes into almost any app without a special font.
  • Superscript lacks a small form for a few letters such as q, and subscript has gaps too. The tool lists the plain letters it leaves behind.
  • Small caps cover almost the whole alphabet, with x as the main exception.
  • The number and formula helper converts digits, signs and simple formulas such as H2O into proper subscripts and superscripts.
  • Your text is converted in your browser and never uploaded.

How to Use the Small Text Generator

  1. 1
STEP 1 Type or paste your text. Short phrases, names and numbers give the best result.
  2. 2
STEP 2 Look at the results. Each small font style appears at once, so you can pick the one you like.
  3. 3
STEP 3 Check for plain letters. A notice tells you if a style does not have a small version of a letter, so you can switch style.
  4. 4
STEP 4 Press Copy next to the style you want.
  5. 5
STEP 5 Paste it into your bio, caption, message, document or formula.

Small Font Styles: Superscript, Subscript and Small Caps

"Small text" is not one thing. There are three main styles, and each suits a different job. The table uses the same sample so you can compare them.

StyleExample: Hello WorldWhat it is good for
Superscript (tiny text)ʰᵉˡˡᵒ ʷᵒʳˡᵈTiny bios and captions, footnotes, exponents, ordinals like 1ˢᵗ
Subscriptₕₑₗₗₒ WₒᵣₗdChemical formulas, indices, a lowered tiny look
Small capsʜᴇʟʟᴏ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅNeat small capital letters for headings and bios

Small text for numbers

Numbers are easier than letters. Superscript digits are ⁰¹²³⁴⁵⁶⁷⁸⁹ and subscript digits are ₀₁₂₃₄₅₆₇₈₉. They are used for exponents such as x² and m³, footnote marks such as text¹, and chemical formulas such as H₂O and CO₂.

Tiny Text Generator: Which Letters Are Missing?

Here is something most pages skip. Unicode does not contain a small version of every letter in every style. When a small letter is missing, the tool leaves the normal letter in place, which can look uneven. This is the full alphabet for each style, so you can see the gaps.

StyleAlphabet a to z
Superscriptᵃᵇᶜᵈᵉᶠᵍʰⁱʲᵏˡᵐⁿᵒᵖqʳˢᵗᵘᵛʷˣʸᶻ
Subscriptₐbcdₑfgₕᵢⱼₖₗₘₙₒₚqᵣₛₜᵤᵥwₓyz
Small capsᴀʙᴄᴅᴇꜰɢʜɪᴊᴋʟᴍɴᴏᴘꞯʀꜱᴛᴜᴠᴡxʏᴢ
StyleLetters with no small version
Superscriptq (no widely supported superscript form, so it stays plain)
Subscriptb, c, d, f, g, q, w, y, z (these stay as normal letters, so subscript is best for short words and numbers)
Small capsx (x has no small cap form, so it stays plain)

If a word contains a missing letter, choose another style, or change the word. Superscript covers the most letters, so it is the safest style for tiny text. Small caps covers all but one letter. Subscript has the most gaps.

Small Capital Fonts and Small Caps Generator

Small caps are capital letters drawn at the height of lowercase letters, so a sentence reads in capitals without shouting. In this generator, you type normal text and each letter turns into its small capital form, as in ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ ʟᴏᴏᴋ ɴᴇᴀᴛ. Capital and lowercase input both give small caps, so the shape of the first letter is not kept.

If you are designing a web page or a document and want true small caps, use a font feature instead. In CSS, use font-variant: small-caps. In Word, choose Font, then Small caps. Real small caps keep proper spacing and work with every letter, while Unicode small caps are best for places where you cannot choose a font.

Superscript and Subscript Text: Other Ways to Do It

Google DocsPress Ctrl + . for superscript or Ctrl + , for subscript.

Small Text Ideas

  • Tiny bio lines. A short tagline in superscript looks refined under a plain name.
  • Footnote marks. Put a small number after a word, such as source¹.
  • Chemical formulas. Write H₂O, CO₂, O₂ and CH₄ without any formatting.
  • Maths. Type exponents such as x², 10⁶ and n³ in plain text.
  • Ordinal numbers. Write 1ˢᵗ, 2ⁿᵈ, 3ʳᵈ and 4ᵗʰ.
  • Trademark style notes. Put a small TM or SM beside a name where formatting is not available.
  • Aesthetic captions. Use small caps or tiny text for quiet, minimal posts.

Is Small Text Accessible and Easy to Read?

Very small characters are hard to read, especially on a phone. Screen readers may also read them as separate symbols or skip them. Use small text for decoration, footnote marks and short phrases, and keep key information such as prices, dates, contact details and links in normal text.

Is the Small Text Generator Free and Private?

Yes. It is free with no sign up and no limit. The text is converted inside your browser and is not sent to a server or saved.

FAQs

How do I make small text?

Type your text into the generator and it shows the text as superscript, subscript and small caps. Press Copy next to the style you want and paste it into your bio, message or document. The result is made of special Unicode characters, so it stays small after you paste it, without any font or app.

What is the difference between small text and tiny text?

They are the same idea with different names. Both mean letters that look smaller than normal text. In practice, tiny text usually means superscript letters, which sit high and small, while small text can also mean small caps or subscript. This generator shows all of them, so you can choose the look you prefer.

Why are some letters not small?

Unicode does not include a small version of every letter in every style. Superscript has no widely supported lowercase q, subscript is missing letters such as b, c, d, f, g, q, w, y and z, and small caps has no x. The tool leaves a normal letter where a small one does not exist, so try another style.

How do I type superscript in Word or Google Docs?

In Microsoft Word, select the text and press Ctrl + Shift + = for superscript, or Ctrl + = for subscript. In Google Docs, press Ctrl + . for superscript or Ctrl + , for subscript. For places that have no formatting, such as social media bios or chat, use this generator and paste the result.

Can I use small text in an Instagram bio?

Yes. Copy superscript or small caps text from the generator and paste it into your Instagram bio, name or caption. It usually works. Usernames are different, since they allow only plain letters, numbers, dots and underscores, so small text cannot be used there. Keep important words in normal text so people can search for you.

What is the difference between small caps and superscript?

Small caps are capital letters drawn at the height of lowercase letters, so the text reads as capitals but looks calm. Superscript letters are small, raised letters that sit above the baseline. Small caps suit headings and bios, while superscript suits footnotes, exponents and tiny captions.

Is small text good for accessibility?

Not for long passages. Very small characters are hard to read, and screen readers may read them as separate symbols or skip them. Use small text for short decoration, such as a tagline or a footnote mark, and keep important information like prices, dates, links and contact details in normal text.

Is the small text generator free?

Yes. It is free with no sign up, no download and no limit on how much text you convert. It runs in your browser, so your text is not uploaded or stored. You can copy any of the styles as many times as you like, and use them in personal or business posts and documents.
