Diwali Wishes and Quotes: 150 Messages for Family, Friends and Clients

HinduTone’s Diwali 2026 greetings guide, published on 2 April 2026 and updated on 25 October 2026, gives sample wishes for four groups (family, friends, colleagues and clients) and advises adding the person’s name and one personal line, because a short personal message is better than a long forwarded one. Diwali is on Sunday, 8 November 2026, with Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November.

This guide gives 150 messages in eight groups, so you can copy, trim and add a name. All 150 messages and the quote-style lines are original wording written for WritoryBuzz, not quotations from any person, so there is nothing to attribute. The etiquette notes come from HinduTone, and the Hinglish messages are in plain Roman script and may need a native speaker’s check for your family’s dialect.

Etiquette Before You Send

HinduTone’s etiquette notes, paraphrased, are in the table. Our own addition is to check your contacts for anyone in mourning, in which case a quieter message may be kinder.

Timing for familyDiwali morning or the evening before
Timing for colleaguesBefore the weekend or on the day

FAQs

When should I send Diwali wishes?

HinduTone suggests sending family wishes on the morning of Diwali or the evening before, and colleague wishes before the weekend or on the day itself. In 2026 Diwali is on Sunday, 8 November, so many people send on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Our own addition: schedule messages in advance if you have many to send, and set a reminder to reply personally to anyone who answers with a message of their own.

How do I write a good Diwali message?

HinduTone advises adding the person’s name and one personal line, and preferring a short personal message to a long forwarded one. Mention a shared memory or a plan to meet, and keep the tone warm. Our own addition: keep a short note of what you said to each person this year, so next year’s message can refer to something real and avoid repeating the same line.

What should I send to clients?

Keep it warm, brief and professional. HinduTone’s sample thanks the client for the partnership and wishes them a prosperous Diwali. Avoid heavy religious detail unless you know the client well, and send it by the morning of Diwali. Our own addition: avoid sending mass forwards to a client list, address each person by name, and check spelling of names and company titles before pressing send.

Can I use these messages?

Yes. All 150 messages are original wording written for WritoryBuzz. You can copy, trim or personalise them. Add a name and one personal line so they feel like your own message and not a forward. Feel free to change any wording, translate it into your own language and add your own details, since a message that sounds like you will always feel warmer than a copied one.

Should I send wishes in Hindi or English?

HinduTone advises using the recipient’s language, such as Hindi for Hindi-speaking friends or Telugu for Telugu families. The Hinglish messages here use Roman script and may need a native speaker’s check for your family’s dialect. Our own addition: if you are unsure about a word or a dialect, ask a family member to read the message first, and check that it does not accidentally mean something different.

When is Diwali in 2026?

Diwali is on Sunday, 8 November 2026, with Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November, per HinduTone and Drik Panchang. Puja timings vary by city and family tradition. Our own addition: check the Dhanteras and Diwali dates for your city and tradition, since puja timings and customs can differ, and send wishes ahead of the key days. Always confirm the date with your family’s own calendar before sending.

Send Early, Send Personal

A short message sent on time says more than a long one sent late. The effort is small, and the warmth lasts.

Choose five people this week, pick a message from each group and add one personal line. Schedule them for the evening of 7 November or the morning of the 8th.
